The region is the home of 350,000 inhabitants in the larger towns Sundsvall, Östersund and Trondheim. With the smaller towns and villages included another 100,000 inhabitants are added.
In the whole region there are 150,000 vehicles. In Östersund, for instance, there are 27,000 vehicles. 300 private cars are owned by the Municipality of Östersund, whereof 40 utility vehicles. The Municipality of Trondheim has already purchased 23 electric vehicles to position itself as a serious demonstration location.
